Composed version of the poem Darraðarljóð. A skaldic poem in Old Norse found in chapter 157 of Njáls saga. Twelve valkyries weave and choose who is to be slain at the Battle of Clontarf, year 1014. Their loom uses human entrails as warp and woof, swords as treadles, an arrow as the batten and men's heads as weights.
lyrics
Darraðarljóð
First two stanzas (translated to eng)
The fabric is taut
to notice of manslaughter,
from the boom pin
it's raining blood.
Now over the spear
tighten the gray
the warp of the life thread
which looms fill
with the Valhall god
reddest weft.
Tight is our warp
of men's intestines,
hard is the weight
of men's heads,
it is tense
of iron-clad spears.
With our weapons
we weave death
