Irrbloss are small mysterious lights on moors, bogs and in marshes. It was thought that they were the souls of people who performed as much evil as good in life and therefore did not get to heaven or hell. Another view was that they would be people who had been tricked into going down in swamps and then after their death rose like a wanderer, dancing forever around the place where they died, leading other lost people either to safety or to their death.
